Detroit critics find 'Silver Linings'
"Silver Linings Playbook" and writer-director David O. Russell won the hearts of the Detroit Film Critics Society.
In addition to winning top honors from the group for picture, director and screenplay, Jennifer Lawrences was voted best actress and Robert De Niro best supporting actor.
Daniel Day-Lewis ("Lincoln") was named best actor, while supporting actress honors went to Anne Hathaway for "Les Miserables." "Lincoln" won best ensemble.
Winning top documentary was "Jiro Dreams of Sushi," which was Oscar-eligible last year.
A breakthrough award was given to Zoe Kazan for "Ruby Sparks."

A native of Los Angeles raised by two parents and "Hill Street Blues," Jon Weisman ankled his scriptwriting career and began working for Variety in 2004, subsequently serving as associate editor of features and television reporter before becoming awards editor. He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
