• Submissions for the sixth annual Television Academy Honors for programming that aired from Jan. 1 to Oct. 31 are due Friday. (The deadline for programming from the final two months of the year is Jan. 14). Details here.
• Helena Bonham Carter will receive the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film at the 33rd London's Critics' Circle Film Awards on Jan. 20.
• Bradley Cooper will join the parade of honorees at next month's Palm Springs International Film Fest.
A native of Los Angeles raised by two parents and "Hill Street Blues," Jon Weisman ankled his scriptwriting career and began working for Variety in 2004, subsequently serving as associate editor of features and television reporter before becoming awards editor. He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
