Vegas' bright lights shine on 'Life of Pi'

PiIt's a time for spreading the wealth among the critics groups.

Following the triumph of "Argo" in San Diego, "Life of Pi" has been named the year's top feature by the Las Vegas Film Critics Society (list via Awards Daily), with "Pi" helmer Ang Lee also winning best director, Claudio Miranda nabbing cinematography and Mychael Danna score. The film also won for visual effects, and Suraj Sharma added a Youth in Film honor. 

Acting awards went to Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones of "Lincoln," Jennifer Lawrence of "Silver Linings Playbook" and Anne Hathaway of "Les Miserables." Rian Johnson, who is having a fine December, won his third screenplay honor with "Looper." Top song was Adele's "Skyfall."

"ParaNorman" and "Amour" added to their winning ways in animation and foreign film, while "Bully" won for top doc. 

William Goldenberg and Dylan Tichenor won in editing for “Zero Dark Thirty," Jacqueline Durran in costume design for “Anna Karenina” and Alex Cameron in art direction for "Prometheus."

Benh Zeitlin of "Beasts of the Southern Wild" earned a Breakout Filmmaker of the Year kudo, and Alan Arkin won the William Holden Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Vegas film top 10 for the year went as follows:
