Emma Stone, Seth MacFarlane to reveal Oscar noms Thursday without Acad president Koch
Emma Stone will be joined by Oscar host Seth MacFarlane to announce this year's Academy Award nominees Thursday morning at 5:30 a.m. It will be the first time an Oscar host has participated in the nominations announcement since 1972.
According to the Academy, the Academy president has been joined by one or more co-announcers at the event since the first nominations announcement in 1964. However, it appears current Acad prexy Hawk Koch will sit this out. Forty years ago, Charlton Heston was the only other show host to do the noms announcement.

A native of Los Angeles raised by two parents and "Hill Street Blues," Jon Weisman ankled his scriptwriting career and began working for Variety in 2004, subsequently serving as associate editor of features and television reporter before becoming awards editor. He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
