Oscar week showcases numerous categories with screenings, panels
Beginning Feb. 19, hours after balloting for the 85th annual Academy Awards ends, AMPAS will present five public events during Oscar Week celebrating this year’s nominees at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Feb. 19: 7:30 p.m. Screenings of all of the 2012 Oscar-nominated films in the animated and live-action short categories, plus onstage discussions with the filmmakers. Jason Schwartzman will host.
Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m.: Spotlights the work of the nominated filmmakers in the documentary short subject and documentary feature categories, with clips and panel discussions. Michael Moore will host.
Feb. 21, 7:30 p.m.: Spotlights the nominated achievements in the animated feature category.
Feb. 23, 10 a.m.: Directors of nominated foreign-language films will discuss their projects in a two-hour event with moderator Mark Johnson.
Feb. 23, 2:30 p.m.: Celebration of the nominees in makeup and hairstyling, moderated by branch governor Leonard Engelman.
Tickets will be available starting Friday at 10 a.m.


A native of Los Angeles raised by two parents and "Hill Street Blues," Jon Weisman ankled his scriptwriting career and began working for Variety in 2004, subsequently serving as associate editor of features and television reporter before becoming awards editor. He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
