Strike Watch: Rob Long's Blog
Cheers writer Rob Long said he'd never blog, but here he is. One thing I liked in EW's writers strike cover wrapup was the conclusion: striking writers will write on the internet. I think we're going to see an explosion of blogs. That's where the strike's being covered anyway, minute to minute, photo to photo, online. Writers are fighting to get a piece of the internet action. And now they're taking their writing to the internet.
That was the subject of these EW video interviews from the Fox rally Friday, including Judd Apatow, Zack de la Rocha, Jesse Jackson et al. It's all about the internet. Here's Mark Harris's column at E.W. com
Send me all the writers' strike blogs you know about and I'll post them.

Is there some other way people are sending you links, all secret-like? Seems awfully quiet in here. When I'm not on the UnitedHollywood blog (http://unitedhollywood.com), I'm obsessively hitting refresh on Ken Levine's (http://kenlevine.blogspot.com/).

Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune has been covering the heck out of the strike as it relates to this year's TV season. On Friday she posted a ton of great links to blog/notblog pieces by various writers discussing the mechanics of the strike as well as the bigger meaning.
EW's Mark Harris hit the hail on the head in his Friday piece.
And, allow we to tip a hat to the blog I write for, Galactica Sitrep, where my cohort Logan has been covering the strike like mad. We Ron Moore/Battlestar Galactica fans are a relatively pro-union bunch. *g*
I can't seem to make html link embeds work in your comments, so here are all the links:

The American viewing audience doesn't care about your strike. Television as a form of entertainment if over. We don't have respect for your cause or concerns. Don't expect us to care. Our 21st Century Information Society has the attention span of a squirrel. We shall simply turn-off the television, move on to something actually interesting, and never return. Mark my words: Your choice to go on strike will be the beginning of the end of television as a form of entertainment in America. Viewership numbers will never return to their pre-strike numbers. The strikers are wagering that media corporations will bow to them when the episode well runs dry. When a skateboarding dog captures more interest than the highest rated union written television show in history, your industry is done. Viewer created content is the immediate future. Your strike serves as the opportunity for the audience to turn our backs on you forever. We won't miss you. We have already forgotten about you and moved on.

@AVAR:
Speak for yourself buddy. Me and my friends who watch TV and movies are not going to want to stop just because there's a strike that shuts content creation off for a while.
Maybe the writers should take a hint from the musicians on this one...
