Rob's hair is called sex hair by all the fans. Personally I want it cut and if Variety can arrange a fashionshoot with Rob with the ulterior motive of chopping off that hair I'd be delighted. He's so stunningly handsome that the hair just detracts. Having said that he is still the most handsome sexy and talented actor in Hollywood. He's going to be a huge star. He screams sex appeal. Other Hollywood actors dont really have that special something.
Posted by: alison | July 28, 2008 at 10:11 AM
Good choice in putting Rob Pattinson at Number 1. He has so much charisma and looks to die for. I'm torn on his hair. I do think he looks stunning with it short and it focuses more on that wonderful jawline and amazing eyes. But I can also see that to some girls the tumbled out of bed look is very erotic and sexy. He's had it messy for a while now so I think the time has come to crop the lot. Dont want to be too predictable do we Rob. HINT HINT.
Posted by: Helen | July 28, 2008 at 10:14 AM
YAY Rob at Number one, exactly where he should be. Noone on the list has his raw sex appeal. He's only just turned 22 and has so much potential. He's also a wonderful actor. If you've not seen his other work go look on You tube for clips of The Haunted Airman or How to be.
His new film Little Ashes where he plays Salvador Dali is out in November. Cant wait to see it.
Posted by: Wendy | July 28, 2008 at 10:18 AM
Rob Pattinson is the most handsome actor working today but more importantly is an extremely talented one too. He's got an intensity about him that means you dont watch anyone else when he's on screen. He's also a fine musician and singer so to say he's spoilt with talent is an understatement. I'm so glad that fans gave him such an amazing reception at Comic Con. He thinks we just like the character he is playing but he's wrong. Its Rob we love and admire. Maybe when he sees fans supporting his other projects it will sink in. I too cant wait to see him in Little Ashes. The Dali film synopsis sounds extremely sexy.
Regarding his hair - if it was me I'd cut it - it must get so hot. Lots of fans think its sexy but as he doesnt manage it well it suggests it should be cut off. If the LA Times or Variety want to do an article on him and slide in a hair cut I think most fans would be thrilled.
I cant believe I'm typing away about an actor's hair but thats how Rob gets under your skin.
Posted by: Ruthie | July 28, 2008 at 10:34 AM
Rob is #1, in so many aspects. In addition to being gorgeous and sexy and charming...the man can act! He's becoming one of the best actors of his generation. Along with Twilight, be on the look-out for a British independent called How to Be, as well as his portrayal of Salvador Dali in Little Ashes...he's more than just a pretty face folks!
And the sex hair...yes it's crazy and unkempt...but it's becoming a trademark of his, along with his contagious laugh and smile. Rob's not trying to fit the normal Hollywood standard...he's better than that, and he's staying true to himself.
Stayed tuned for more fabulousness from this actor...he's not going anywhere any time soon - thank goodness!
Posted by: blearyeyedmesgirl | July 28, 2008 at 10:40 AM
Expect big things from Rob. I think the word overwhelmed describes what happened to him that day. As for the hair, part of his problem he can't keep his hands out of it. When he is nervous his hands go straight into his hair.
You know, with all the hoopla over the EW cover maybe you guys could get Rob and make his fans really happy.
Posted by: JenBarn76 | July 28, 2008 at 10:50 AM
I love Rob as Edward as I did when I saw him in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as I do with what I have seen of him so far in his other projects. As much as I hate to address the hair; I have to say that it is not his hair that I find sexy, but the fact that he wears it the way he does. He's hot, for sure. I hope we get to see much much more of him, and his fabulous hair (and smile, and silly gestures).
Posted by: tina | July 28, 2008 at 10:56 AM
A lot of British actors come close to being a huge Hollywood film star but Rob is the first for a long whle that will actually do it. A lot of the Hollywood elite are over the hill. Old and unexciting. Rob Pattinson oozes sex, charisma, intensity, charm and talent. I really hope the Salvador Dali film gets picked up for wide distribtuion because its an amazing role for him. He's going to shock a lot of people with his wonderful acting ability. He doesnt play safe and is happy to play geeks as well as heroes. Thats my kind of actor.
As you can tell he also has a devoted fanbase.

Who's Rob Pattinson?
Posted by: Brian | July 28, 2008 at 11:04 AM
Rob should be number one. No question there. He's adorable the way he is. I'm glad he's obtained the role in Twilight because he's going to be a great Edward.
I love his hair, okay? It's just so him.
Posted by: Julie | July 28, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Good choice Ms Thompson. I agree with the suggestion of Variety making up for EW's silly Twilight cover. Give Rob a once over and do an article on him. You'd get high sales thats for sure. Dressed as Bond and I just might faint.
I'm so glad fans posting are also mentioning how good an actor he is. He isnt just a pretty face even if it IS a very pretty face. He has done a variety of work and all of it excellent. The Haunted Airman is especially good.
I'm more excited about seeing him as Salvador Dali than I am to see him in Twilight. He has to show a "blend of shyness and rampant exhibitionism" in the role. Who wouldnt be excited to see that.
Posted by: RuthP | July 28, 2008 at 11:15 AM
I'll wade into this sea of Rob P fans (I don't have a clue who he is), to say that for me and many others, Hugh Jackman is # 1 and always will be. Not only is he a genuine "hunk" but he is a man of enormous talent, great charm, and if you look up "charisma" in Webster's, his photo should be there. To the ComicCon crowd, Hugh is Wolverine, but there are many of us out here who know that his talent is limitless, in movies as well as in live theatre. Next up for Hugh is the Baz Luhrmann epic, "Australia". Then we'll have Wolverine to look forward to.

Pattinson's going to be a huge star. I love his sexy bed hair but I agree its time for a new style.
He's clearly disorientated by his new fanbase. He said he thinks its just the character the fans love but I agree with the earlier poster. He's got that wrong. We love Rob and Edward is just one of many roles I like him playing. I adore the nerd he plays in The Bad Mother's Handbook. Thats beautifully acted.
I hope he gets another sexy role like Perseus in the reboot of Clash of the Titans or a comic book hero/villain role. He needs one more key franchise to really secure his Hollywood future. Then he can start experimenting again with more edgy roles. I love the clips I've seen of him in How To Be.
Posted by: janebarber | July 28, 2008 at 11:22 AM
I dont think the other actors on the list cause the same degree of excitement as Rob Pattinson. The rest have a rather old feel to them. Past their sell by date. Rob Pattinson is the new Hollywood. I certainly wouldnt rush to see a Jackman film any more. Van Helsing anybody....
Pattinson is only just turned 22 and is a very talented actor. He can also sing and is a fine musician.
The only thing he can't do is style his hair ! so yeah Variety drag him to the haridressers. That would make a fun article.

Re: Hugh Jackman. He was once on a Japanese TV show promoting one of his movies and the co-interviewer was one of my favorite J-pop entertainers, Mari Yaguchi, who was having more than a little trouble with English. He was patient, kind, sweet and gracious with her and never condescending and he impressed me as quite a gentleman that day.
Posted by: Brian | July 28, 2008 at 11:36 AM
There's a buzz around Pattinson, you can feel it. He's definately going to be a huge movie star. Its not widely known that he is a fine actor as most of his roles have been in british productions but Twilight will put him on the map and hopefully fans will then get to see his latest work in Little Ashes and How to Be. Both difficult roles.
He has an earthy sexuality to him which was very apparent in The Haunted Airman. I hung on hsi every word. His role in the erotic and sexy Little Ashes will please a lot of fans.
Re the hair - I'm undecided. A lot of fans like to see him look ruff and ready but I prefer the cleaned up version. Really short hair suits him as he has such wonderful bones structure.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Hugh Jackman, who made a surprise appearance to promote next year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He understands what Keanu Reeves, Benicio del Toro and other actors who ascended the stage of the San Diego Convention Center's cavernous Hall H do not: Comic-Con is itself a performance. Jackman leaped off the stage, ran across the floor to shake the hand of Wolverine's creator and thanked the crowd of 6,500, saying, "Without you guys, I wouldn't have a career." That's the special blend of humility and showmanship you can only learn by hosting the Tonys three years in a row.

I LOVE Rob Pattinson's sex hair. It's a character unto itself! HAHA
He is king of the JBF look. JBF. You can Google it. *wink wink to you Twilight fans who know what I'm talking about*

By all accounts Dwayne Johnson delivered a masterful performance at Comic Con, surpised he didn't make the list. It seeems that what can really sell these movies are the performances at the panels. But not all actors seem to get that.
Posted by: Richard | July 28, 2008 at 03:28 PM
I've got my doubts about Robert Pattinson, maybe because I had to suffer through his indie movie How to Be at Slamdance this year. The energy simply wasn't there to carry a feature.
The big surprise for me was Cam Gigandet (the guy's gorgeous, plus he's got the villain role in Twilight-- remember, of the Lost Boys cast, the only one with a career to speak of today is Kiefer Sutherland).
For what it's worth, the tweens clearly preferred Taylor Lautner to Rob (even screaming as much from the crowd). I suspect Pattinson's gonna get left in the dust.
Posted by: Peter Debruge | July 28, 2008 at 04:49 PM
No love for The Spirit's Gabriel Macht? The most depressing thing about that panel was the way no one seemed to realize the guy's been acting for nearly 30 years. Let's just hope this "big break" works out better for him than The Phantom did for Billy Zane.
Even if The Spirit fizzles, Macht probably should've made the list. He could've taken Brendan Fraser's place -- now there's someone who could've afforded to do a few more sit-ups before making a 3-D movie.

Robert's hair is what you will call bedhead.........sexy and sultry. The man can do no wrong. He will always be the sexiest young man alive. Robert Pattinson brings SEXY BACK!
Posted by: suzfromcali | July 28, 2008 at 07:35 PM
What´s with his hair? What a question! It is just perfekt the way it is, just perfekt! And I love his hands gliding through it...even if it is a nervous habit, I just can´t stop watching it.
And as for his acting abilities...I loved him in all the roles I have seen him in so far, and I´ve seen everything that is listed at IMDb....guess he can be a real great one, but the question is...does he really want to become a real famous movie star? I guess after comic-con "sound at the gates of hell"-screaming he should think that through before ;) ...
Posted by: Lucia | July 29, 2008 at 02:17 AM
Of courseRob wants to be a huge movie star like Johnny Depp because they get the most interesting roles. I could really see Rob in similar roles to Depp. If you think of Scissorhands for instance I could easily see Rob in that role.
I'd love Variety to do an article on Little Ashes as I'm dsperate to find out more information on Rob's film.
Posted by: helen | July 29, 2008 at 05:26 AM
Not to interrupt the Rob Pattison fan club here (wow, his hair is pretty scary!), but definitely Keanu Reeves, and Joe Flanigan of Stargate Atlantis.
Posted by: Elyse | July 29, 2008 at 05:57 AM
I love Rob's hair.And i love him.
He's an amazing actor-Sexy,cute,crazy,sweet and talented.Rob is the best actor of our generation. And he will be a PERFECT Edward Cullen.
That's all.
Posted by: Deimos | July 29, 2008 at 07:54 AM
I missed The Rock--does he really have a big femme fanbase? I heard Gerard Butler did well at Rocknrolla, which I missed. He had the girls going at the Con BEFORE 300. I didn't feel the love for Macht at The Spirit panel. Nobody knows who he is. Brendan still has some fans. How old do you have to be to be over the hill?
Posted by: anne Thompson | July 29, 2008 at 10:43 AM
I think its more a matter of being bored seeing the same actors getting all the roles. Pitt/Clooney/Di Caprio/Damon/Reeves etc Sometimes you want to be bowled over by new blood. A lot of the key US stars just arent sexy. They are good looking certainly but bland and very boring.
Pattinson is a little different. As someone said he has an aura of a rock star about him which cranks up the sex appeal. I agree the hair needs to be cut. He's too beautiful to let the hair take over his face that much.
The Pattinson Salvador Dali film looks very interesting.

JAMES FRANCO SHOULD BE #1! ROB IS UGLY!!!!!
Posted by: C | July 29, 2008 at 05:33 PM
Great choice in having Pattinson at the top of the list. A very sexy and sensual young actor.
Posted by: Pattinson fan | July 30, 2008 at 03:11 AM
For what its worth and to answer the rather odd poster above who clearly couldnt have been at Comic Con. Rob got an amazing reception at the event In a different league to the others and as far as many journlists are the concerned the best ever at this event. Also Rob's wonderful in How to Be. Its a gentle sensitive role and he nails it. The script is a delight.
Posted by: Jo | July 30, 2008 at 08:28 AM
Is this Peter Debruge for real. He's clearly to old and deaf to be attending events on behalf of Variety. Rob Pattinson got the best reception of any actor ever at Comic Con. There's a huge amount of footage to proove it. Infact his appearance was called Elvis like. The fans reaction was so wild for him. Good to see other journalists have their finger on the pulse. Time to retire Mr Debruge. You clearly dont have a clue.

Peter D.
I would like to respond to you regarding Rob. Are you deaf and can you see. He was the reason all the girls were going crazy. Do your research, the internet is an amazing tool. GOOGLE it "Robert Pattinson" and you will see the hype. As long as Rob remains grounded as he is, his career will be long.
Jennifer
Posted by: Jenbarn76 | July 30, 2008 at 09:12 AM
This Debruge sounds like he has a crush on the guy playing the baddie in Twilight and the kid who plays the werewolf. Pathetic.
How to distort what happened at the event. Pattinson got the biggest reception of any actor at the even since it started in the 1970's. Go read the articles written by real journalists.
Posted by: Tan | July 30, 2008 at 09:17 AM
Actually thinking about it I wonder if this journalist Deebruge was actually there.
Posted by: tan | July 30, 2008 at 09:19 AM
Sounds like Debruge is just jealous. Pattinson's bound to get under the skin of a lot of pug ugly male journalists. Fans should expect to read a lot of distorted and bitter articles on Rob from now on. It comes with the territory of being amazingly handsome and talented.
Its particularly strange that this guy decided to comment on a colleagues article. I look forward to his continued pain as Rob's career goes from strength to strength.
Posted by: Carolyn | July 30, 2008 at 09:26 AM
What a bizarre message from this Peter D. He might have got away with comments like that in the past when people werent filming events and reporting back on You tube but now journalists have a harder time in misleading the public with so much on public view. Silly boy.
Posted by: Ruth | July 30, 2008 at 09:53 AM
Maybe Peter D walked into the performance of 'How To Be' expecting to be taught how to be an objective journalist. He clearly needs some lessons and a hearing aide. Bless him.

Hey now, let's not make this personal. I was there, and I'm reporting with my own eyes and ears. The Twilight panel sounded like a Miley Cyrus concert, certainly the most enthusiastic reaction I've ever witnessed at Comic-Con, and EVERYONE on-stage earned an ear-splitting response from the crowd.
I'd heard all the online hype around Pattinson going in, so that didn't surprise me so much (he has the Cedric Diggory role under his belt, after all), but I wasn't expecting the reaction to all the other cast members.
Especially Lautner (aka Sharkboy) -- I distinctly heard a group of girls shout a love note to Taylor announcing that he was their favorite. Amazing that they weren't pummeled to death by Rob defenders.
As for Gigandet, the guy has the appeal of a young Brad Pitt and he's playing the baddie, so I think we'll be seeing more of him in the future. Then again, he proved himself a bit of a buffoon answering questions up there -- not that the crowd minded. They were shrieking no matter what was said.
(By the way, does anyone know where all those girls went after the panel? It's a mystery the likes of which only the writers of Lost can answer.)
But I've clearly learned my lesson: Speak no ill of the guy playing Edward, or suffer the consequences!

Debruge you are digging yourself in deeper and deeper and convincing noone. Your initial message was decidedly odd. For one think they didnt show enough footage for you to come to any such conclusion on Cam. It was really over the top support. Its been reported far and wide that Pattinson got an amazing reception and you definately played that down big time. There is no way you could come to the conclusion that Pattinson would be left in the dust. No wonder fans were upset. It was such an odd conclusion to come to.
By the way I'm no screaming fan girl but someone who respects quality actors like Damon/Depp/Day Lewis. Pattinson has the talent and charisma to be a fine film actor. I agree there is a buzz around him and his versatility should stand him in good stead for a long term career. He has a mixture of danger ans sweetness about him which is an unusual mix.

The press has no clue what goes on outside their little world. Rob has redefined sexy and no one wants to open the dictionary to face it. Everyone will be sorry when Twilight comes out (oh and they'll join the wagontrain Im sure) and to make revenge even sweeter, they will be eating there own stories when Little Ashes earns him his kudos.

"Speak no ill of the guy playing Edward, or suffer the consequences!"
OH YES. You said it. We are large and we are fierce.
And on Peter D.'s comment. I'm agreeing with most. Are you freaking deaf? CLEARLY PREFFERED TAYLOR??? I'm sorry but that is the blackest form of blasphemy I have ever read. Yeah, the screaming was big for Sharkboy but not as big as RPattz walking in. No WAY was Rob 'left in the dust'. Look on YouTube, Peter, of the cast being introduced at Comic-Con. Maybe you were dazzled by Rob to hear anything.
The only reason they were saying he was their favorite was due to Team Edward/Jacob loyalties that inevitably past on to the actors.
And to "C".
Your comment was lovely. /sarcasm
And I shall say this.
Visa versa. James Franco doesn't look like he evolved from ape to human. Srry, bb.

To the idiot who asked "Who's Rob Pattinson?"
Get from under your fucking boulder.
He's a sexxx pot.
ROB should be #1! He's so much better looking than Hugh Jackman (ew)
Why isn't Cam Gigandet and Taylor Launter on there? They'd be like #2 & 3!

And RPattz'z hair if sexy.
So shut the fuck up :)
It's one of his trademarks!

I love Rob Pattinson's fans. They are awesome, powerful and show these poor quality journalists up for what they are. Honestly these hacks have so many hidden agendas.
Rob is unique and the other names are bland versions of many other boring actors. Its Cam and the odd Sharkboy who who will fade away.

Keep the sex hair Rob! We love it.
