Next Food Network Star finale
(Posted by David S. Cohen)
The Food Network was smart to break format and bring back three contestants to the finale of "The Next Food Network Star" instead of the usual two.
I agree with the choice of Aaron McCargo Jr. as winner of the competish. Even my wife, who's vegetarian, was grinning watching him grill a steak in the finale. Though not a trained TV performer, McCargo has natural charisma.
But does anyone else think Adam Gertler had a pretty good idea for a cooking show? I sure did. And doesn't Lisa Garza seem like she's a natural to, well, do something on television? I'm looking forward to see what they end up doing as well.

I couldn't decide whether Lisa or Adam deserved the title - but shocked at the choice of Aaron. A nice guy, but far outshone in all respects - in every episode, by the other two. In my opinion, they were robbed. And so was I!

I would have been happy for Aaron or Adam, but I just didn't like Lisa's personality. It just seemed too fake and at times I felt she was just there to inflate her ego. Aaron and Adam had a genuine warm personality that viewers could relate to, and that is what makes a huge network star.

Wow JP, that's harsh. Anybody who wants to be a TV star has to have a considerable ego, but I didn't think Lisa seemed especially full of herself. She's a perfectionist and because of that sometimes comes across as cold on camera. I couldn't help noticing that in her pilot presentation she was talking about her recipe being easy and beautiful, but she didn't say it was fun, and that hurts her rapport with the viewer. If anything, I think she beats herself up so much she has a hard time relaxing and having fun while she's working. But we liked her fine in her behind-the-scenes interviews.

THE JUDGES MADE A HUGH ERROR!!!! They picked the wrong GUY!!! Aaron was a nice guy and great cook, but I will not watch his show. Hopefully the network can find a good place for ADAM. He is funny, charming and a great cook. I also would appreciate your sending me his reciepe for "Beer Can Chicken". Thank you, Holly

Aaron food looked awful and his ideas about what works with what, terrible. Lisa was just plain disturbing. Adam was smart and funny and I thinks the judges should be ashamed of themselves.
