Adam Sandler had a big night on Tuesday. After David Letterman went home sick before taping the "Late Show," Sandler, one of the night's guests, took over host duties. After interviewing “Reign Over Me” co-star Don Cheadle, the two thesps headed downtown to the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU for the pic’s preem. Written and directed by Mike Binder, film is about a man (Sandler), who lost his family in the September 11 attacks and rekindles a friendship with old college roommate (Cheadle).
Binder explained at a pre-pic reception how he picked the normally comical Sandler, who declined to talk to any print press, for the dramatic lead role. “I loved Adam in 'Punch Drunk Love.' He plays wounded very well.” Co-star Jada Pinkett Smith, who was joined by here hubby, Will Smith, was not surprised by Binder’s decision. “When Mike told me that Adam was playing the lead character it really made sense to me because I have always seen a next layer of depth with Adam.” (A.
