Comedic star, Paul Rudd, celebrated the release of his latest drama, “Diggers,” in Gotham on Monday night at Clearview Chelsea West Cinemas. Unlike thesp’s past blowout preems, Rudd joined fellow actors Josh Hamilton, Ken Marino and helmer Katherine Dieckmann at a small after-party at Lure Fishbar in Soho. The gathering was so casual that when a rope, blocking off the VIP section, was knocked down it was never replaced, allowing guests to mingle with the cast and crew.
“It’s kind of weird,” Rudd said of pic’s simultaneous release in theaters and HDNet. “I don’t know if I understand why they do it but one thing that is cool is that this is a small movie and more people will get to see it this way. Added Hamilton, “Apparently it’s a good idea. No one consulted me about it but I am sure they know what they are doing.” (A. Morfoot)
