Submitted for your approval, the man at left. He's the picture of cool and calm, intelligent and reasonable, responsible and most of all, resolute. Meet Neal Baer, exec producer of "Law & Order: SVU." He's one of the smartest and nicest guys in the biz today, a showrunner who meets Dick Wolf's considerable standard, and in his spare time uses the licensed-physician part of his brain to work at Children's Hospital. Not someone you can call a grenade-thrower.
Also, you gotta love this insta-vid below produced by the bloggers of United Hollywood.com. Necessity is the mother of invention, right? The determined folks who are running that blog have been awfully resourceful during the past few days with what I'm guessing is not a whole lot of resources other than their determination to be heard. This vid with Damon Lindelof and Marc Cherry was turned around lickity-split from this morning's showrunners rally outside the Disney gate. It has the bonus of featuring a cameo, just behind Cherry's head, of Variety's Michael Schneider interviewing someone (Mike's the guy in the brown shirt scribbling on a pad). -- Cynthia Littleton
