WGA East: On to Wall Street!

The striking Writers Guild of America East has announced it will go to Wall Street on Tuesday.

The guild noted that it's doing so because "media conglomerates keep boasting of their new media profits to shareholders while simultaneously crying poverty to writers."

Picketing will take place in Battery Park/Financial District (State Street and Bowling Green); leafleting will occur around the New York Stock Exchange.

The WGA will hit the World of Disney store at 711 Fifth Avenue on Wednesday. "Striking WGAE members will demand Disney recognize their work, which is generating increasing sales, especially on the Internet," the guild noted.

Brilliant. Hit 'em where it hurts -- right in the financials. I'm sure it'll be messy and uncomfortable for the Street and get lots of good coverage.
