Despite the sleet, nearly 300 picketers showed up today for a demonstration at ABC Daytime in Manhattan. Notables included Pete Hamill, Dana Delaney, Nora Ephron, Seth Meyers, Ilene Kristen, Peter Parnell, Clyde Phillips, Andrew Bergman, Walter Bernstein, Tom Straw, Tom Fontana and Warren Leight.
"It was a balmy 38 degrees today and I only had to wear three pairs of socks and one pair of gloves," said WGA East spokeswoman Sherry Goldman.
The strikers weren't alone in their dedication: Also outside ABC Daytime was a line of audience hopefuls for "The View." WGA East members gave them an informational leaflet and WGAE pin. "View" host Whoopi Goldberg sent out hot chocolate for the picketers and, after the show, stopped by the picket line with Joy Behar, Bill Geddie and several other staffers.
