WGA to AMPTP: It's all about new media

Here's the WGA's response to the nudgy message about lost scribe wages distribbed by the AMPTP earlier in the day (and posted below):

Big media walked away from the table and refuses to negotiate. The media conglomerates know that the core issue in these negotiations is new media. Their current proposals would cause writers even more economic harm in the future than they claim this strike has caused. To sidestep this fact, they erroneously claim we are focused on other issues. The conglomerates are responsible for creating the economic havoc. They should put their energies into making a fair deal with writers rather than issuing misleading statements.

The studios did not walk out. The guild writers went on strike. They chose not to work. All for politics. They wanted to expand union power and close out free lancers of any kind. I hope the studios hang tough. Hire people that want to write. You guys could open up your own studios and make your own deals. Instead you choose to make demands on somebody else's money. I hope the union leader ends up as a greeter at walmart.

Union members be sure to get your dues in on time. Our leaders are going to the mat for you. The leadership continues the good fight against the capitalist pigs. OUr union leaders will be asking for a raise as they made signs and written jingles that will make the studio heads afraid to show themselves in public. Please send flowers to show your appreciation for their hard work

Hi Jack, or should I call you "Jonathan Swift"? You are cheeky! One little mistake, though, you posted your "I'm saying the opposite of what I think" post also under Jack! Quel faux pas! I posted this on another thread, but you're so fun, I want to re-post it here! I love the game you're playing -- the exaggeration game! I can play it to, watch: You sure are spot on with your definition of "capitalism." You know what the best capitalism is? Well, since you seem to think capitalism is all about companies being allowed to do anything they want, the best capitalism would be... a monarchy! Wouldn't that be nifty? We could make Les Moonves, Jeff Zucker, Brad Grey et al kings! Give them crowns and everything! That way, they could REALLY do whatever they wanted -- take away health care, eliminate weekends off, the whole nine yards! They could give whips to their minions and any creative talent who dares to ask for a fair deal would just get an ass-whipping! After all, companies should be allowed to do whatever they want, am I right? Come on, Jack, whoops, I mean "concerned public," doesn't that sound great? Write me back and let me know ASAP!

Love, Jack. Whoops, no, that's you! Damn, this is confusing!

Least the mighty Jack does not have to copy and paste his own comments. But I guess you are one of those 1 show writers

Hi, mighty Jack! Neato, you refer to yourself in the third person, that's always a sign of a fun guy. Anyway, were your comments different? They all seemed the same! Let see if I can write one: We the communist members of ASCAP, the song writers union, demand a royalty when someone plays our red-tinged songs! Oh, we already get that? Then why don't those commie writers?

Anyway, we're on the same side, right mighty-fun Jack? Keep posting the message of the worker!

Signed,

The Flat-arched Bill! (hmmm, that one isn't as good as Jack's)
