SAG Hearts WGA

The WGA and SAG have firmed up plans for a "Unity Day" noon rally at Fox on Monday. Here's what SAG is telling its members:

"Join us for this special event honoring the collaboration of writers and actors, both on screen and in solidarity. Sponsored by the WGA Union Solidarity Committee and the Women's Committees of SAG and WGA."

The guilds are also promising that attendees will include nominees from the SAG Awards (held Sunday) and the WGA Awards (to be announced Feb. 9 but without any ceremonies in Los Angeles). But no names yet announced.

The WGA has also told its members to picket starting at 7 am or at NBC Burbank and then to resume normal picketing Tuesday.

I am so happy writers and actors are united and I wish you all well together.

I am going to save a ton of money cancelling cable and turning the tube off.
I have to thank you WGA and SAG--Most people in my little world did not depend much on TV or movies in the first place. (with such limited choices of quality product) Not even that rare well written show or movie will hit our radar.

This can't go on much longer. How many showrunners are on the lines? How many blog? The ones that do are the hardliners, most are not on the lines and do not blog. They are frustrated and are ready to go back to work. If this lasts much longer the ones I've talked to feel they will lose more than they will ever gain in their lifetime with any contract. We are past that tipping point. If you think the studios really care about the Oscars as a drop dead date you're wrong. They will figure some way to do make the show work. Did you watch Conan last night? It's a struck show yet he was reading off of cue cards and had Barack Obama and George Wendt on. Didn't seem to hurt him.

Lets keep the unity. WGAE Exec. Director Mona Mangan refuses to sign a ratified contract for her WGAE Staff because she changed it after ratification, & wants them to sign her version. Variety & NY Post covered it. By the way, every time I call the WGAE I get sent to a new person. They said its because everyone is quitting and they can't keep staff because of the abuse. Hey Winship, do something. how can you hold your head high fighting for our rights and deny the rights of another guild? do you want your legacy to be as shameful as Mangan's? you're both insulting 12,500 guild members and what they believe in - East and West along with members of SAG, IATSE and everyone who supported us on the lines and off.

There are many, many showrunners on the line, and I have spoken to many others, and, despite rumors to the contrary perpetuated on websites such as these, we are all still on the same page. So there's your answer, "just asking."

ENOUGH WITH THE PICKERING ALREADY. SUGGESTION: THE ACTORS AND THE WRITERS WILL BE TOGETHER DURING THE RALLY. WHY DON'T YOU GET BACK TO WORK AND PUT THE STRIKING SHOWS ONLINE. LET'S SEE WHAT NICK COUNTER THINKS ABOUT THAT.
